Britain At War
Aspects are living creatures elevated to represent a certain part of life. These Aspects represent that one concept, and have powers relating to that concept. Unlike Gods, their power is not based on their worship, they are granted by the World itself. They are long-lived, living between 100 and 500 years, and when they die, a new living being is chosen to be the Aspect. They have limited shape-shifting powers, usually only to slightly larger or smaller versions of their original shape and one other shape (almost always choose human), though they never fully lose some qualities when shape-shifting (keeping their tail, ears, or eyes for example). Some of these Aspects (most notably the current Aspect of Harvest) will perform services to ordinary mortals in return for favors, the current Aspect of Harvest likes festivals, and some villages throw yearly harvest festivals in her honor. It is generally agreed upon that the Aspects have been around as long as life has been around.
Some notable Aspects include:
- the Hunt (also called upon for battles)
- Fertility (He likes scented candles and soft music)
- the Dead
- Luck (might do favors if you throw salt over your shoulder for example)
- Dance (an essential part of all life).
